Phil is a full time professional photographer based in the North of England and has been a Global Ambassador for Nisi since 2015. As an advocate for high quality filters he has been one of the main influencers in making Nisi a well known name in the UK. Phil started his journey in photography at Hull University studying Art and Design which gave him an eye for composition and an introduction to photography, using Olympus and Minolta SLR cameras.

His genre is landscape photography from all over the UK.

“Winter is my favourite season, but in any season for me it’s all about the mood and the atmosphere. I’m not a golden hour shooter, I will go out in any weather and time of day, there’s always a shot as long as it creates an emotion”.

With a large following on Social Media, Phil has become known for sharing his work with a recognisable style and for helping others. He is an Olympus mentor and runs workshops all over the North of England. Don’t be surprised if you bump into him in the Peak District, Lake District, Snowdonia, Yorkshire, or Scotland. He will be announcing photography tours and extended workshops on his website soon.

Phil shoots a large number of images in portrait orientation.

“I really like how the depth of a scene can be played with in portrait, pulling the viewer into the scene. An L bracket allows me to quickly shoot both portrait and landscape.”

Phil explains why he switched to NiSi:

“Nisi really are the highest quality. Whilst waiting for dawn on a beach in Javea, Spain, I had an email inviting me to join their team and I jumped at it. I was using a Reverse Grad at the time when NiSi were relatively unknown in the UK. Nisi always impress me, the quality of engineering and glass is second to none and they actually listen to their customers. I have been responsible for a couple of products NiSi introduced. I like to say “Nisi innovate, the rest imitate.””

Published in many magazines and websites, Phil recently joined forces with Olympus Passion to run workshops in Portugal.

Phil isn’t the tallest of our Ambassadors, but he makes up for it with his knowledge of Nisi, and by producing a good image occasionally.
